How should my child prepare for CE and CASE exams?

Revision and practice, in addition to that provided by your child’s current school, is not a mandatory requirement for CE or CASE exams. The curriculum has been designed to cover a wide breadth of topics, and your child should learn everything required in their day-to-day schooling.

However, many students find that healthy revision and preparation, focusing on familiarisation, can help them manage stress and anxiety during their admissions journey and demonstrate their ability and potential in the best way.

It is important to encourage a balance between revision and other activities and prioritise your child’s mental health and emotional response to a situation. Dr. Kathy Weston, parenting expert and founder of Tooled Up Education, discussed the topic of Sustainable Revision in her latest blog, read the full article here.

CE and CASE Past Papers

One of the best ways for children to prepare for their CE and CASE exams is through the use of past papers and timed mock tests. For many children CE will be their first experience of a timed written paper and is great preparation ahead of GCSEs in the latter half of senior school.

Parents and guardians can order past papers for CE and CASE directly from the ISEB online shop and support their child to complete timed exams helping them to develop time management skills and identify topics that may require additional study.

Subjects

CE Subject Information

CE and CASE provide a diverse curriculum that explores a wide range of subjects and topics. Senior schools may require your child to sit an exam in all subjects or only a handful as part of their admissions processes.

The Parent Power Toolkit

ISEB has been working with Dr Kathy Weston and Tooled Up Education to produce a four-part Parent Power Toolkit to support parents in helping their child navigate their admissions journey.

The Parent Power Toolkit has been designed to give agency to parents and guardians, ensuring they have the strategies and knowledge to prioritise their child’s mental health and wellbeing during stressful periods. Material has been developed to be flexible and easy to integrate into busy family life, prioritising a healthy balance between revision and relaxation.
